Our Secondary

At secondary level some students are reluctant to participate verbally so we encourage students to remain involved in the spoken English language through different interactive mediums.

All activities require full participation from students so they are confident and independent in the classroom. Adopting positive social skills and clear communication is fundamental to their language development.

Secondary Curriculum (Y7-Y11)

The secondary programme essentially builds and enhances the English language ability, imagination, listening, and confidence of our students' through lessons in grammar, writing, spelling, teamwork, discussion, debate, presentations, and critical thinking.

The classes require full participation and commitment from students, and a good time exploring the English language is experienced by all.

Secondary Writing

The writing course is an excellent way for students to use their vivid imaginations and practice all the grammatical concepts they've learnt.

It gives them the opportunity to 'think outside the box', exercise their creative minds, practise using their imaginations and learn from their writing mistakes. Writing teaches students about empathy and placing themselves in another's shoes. It develops self-confidence and identity by exploring different types of characters. Punctuation, grammar, word choice, word usage, and spelling, are just some of the areas students cover as they write creatively. Each week they brainstorm their ideas and take on a new topic.

Secondary Reading Comprehension

The reading, writing and comprehension lesson improves your child's reading skills and encourages expression and sharing knowledge. The students all read to their peers and share their perception of the passage.

The students complete basic but complete sentences in relation to the passage. Finally, the students present the topic in front of the class to build on their confidence and oral presentation skills.

Secondary One-to-One Tuition

We offer one-to-one tuition to students that may require extra tuition in conjunction with our lessons or to further improve their language skills independently and have a tailored course to fit their requirements.

Secondary Interviewing Skills

Interview practise is an excellent way to prepare a Y7 student for a secondary school interview.

The added benefit of interview preparation is that it creates self-awareness so students are aware of who they are and what their needs are. Being informed helps making a decision easier too.
